It was a dark and stormy night (literally), but this past Friday, Day 1 of Memphis Fashion Week (MFW) took place at the beautiful Annesdale Mansion. I/We had to fight through a torrential tsunami-like downpour to get there, but when I crossed the threshold, it was ALL worth it. As a first-time visitor to the mansion, I found it absolutely breathtaking! From the grand spiral staircase to the amazing amazing chandeliers, the historic mansion was the perfect backdrop to showcase spring/summer trends from four amazing designers. Friday’s lineup included Waverly Grey, Annie Griffin, Byron Lars, and bridal designer, Olia Zavozina.

Now, on to the fashions….
Waverly Grey’s separates (below, left) were fun, playful, and modern, and can be found at Southern Couture on Poplar. The Annie Griffin collection (below, middle) was full of vibrant colors. I loved the print she chose and repeated in various ways. You can shop Annie Griffin at Ella Boutique, Lavish Boutique, and Oak Hall.

My absolute favorite of the evening was Byron Lars. I loved his classic, yet modern dresses and I really enjoyed how he played with different textures. I could absolutely see myself wearing some of his looks to work, dinner, or a spring/summer event. The line itself is a little pricey, but it may be worth the splurge for a special occasion. Here’s a peek at a few of my favorite looks…
Love this one for the office!
This jacket was so rockstar chic!
The texture and details of this dress were stunning.
The wedding gowns from Olia Zavozina had a very vintage vibe. Her use of lace was impeccable and her gowns would work well with brides who are looking for ‘not-so-traditional’ traditional. You know what I mean? All of them had interesting back details that really stood out.
Gorgeous back detail!
“Freeze” models were placed throughout the mansion to give us some living art.
This niche in the wall was the perfect place for living art.
Now on to what I wore…
Memphis’ weather had multiple personality disorder on the day of the show. We went from warmth to rain to freezing all in the matter of a few hours! However, that didn’t stop me from stepping out in the outfit I had planned to wear. The style plan was comfortable, chic, and springy. And what’s more comfortable than a flowly silk blend fabric? Or more chic than black? Or more springy than a romper (which is all the rage for spring/summer 2014)? So, I went with it.

Shoe shot: You can’t see the indigo in my shoes but it’s there! Promise!
Ahhh, the portrait of a lady!
According to Q, Day 1 of MFW was a success! The venue was gorgeous and the designers showcased spring looks full of colorful separates and luxurious textures. I especially loved the diversity of the models and the attendees!
Part 2 coming soon! As always, thanks for stopping by!
