Midi skirts have been all over the place since last fall. Have you seen them?? And, is it me or do most midi skirts make you think of Carrie Bradshaw?? Unlike me, the real Carrie Bradshaw is a tiny little thing, and the volume of fabric added positively to her body type and style. I’m hands-down a pencil skirt kind of girl, so I’ve been very unsure about whether the silhouette would work for me. I impulsively decided to take the plunge while exploring Express one day. And without further adieu, I introduce to you a skirt named Carrie.
Of course, I went with black so I could wear it again and again, and I chose a Mother’s Day breakfast as the first time I’d take Carrie out to play. The occasion called for black and white (per my family) and the style plan was ladylike and feminine. Carrie was perfect! My mother said I looked like a princess and Carrie made me feel like one! I was super nervous about the volume being unflattering for my body type, so to make sure my waist was somewhat defined, I went with a full tuck of my blouse.

I knew that a black statement necklace and my pointed toe D’orsay pumps were a no brainer. But what bag would I carry? Oversized clutch? Minaudière? Neither of those were working, so I channeled Carrie Bradshaw again and went for my dainty teardrop bag (that I haven’t carried in ages). It added just the right touch of girly to the skirt and blouse combo.

According to Q, a midi skirt can give your look an ultra feminine vibe! So go for it! Grab a midi, tuck in that blouse, and twirl until your heart’s content. You could always add a belt for a little extra waist-cinching fabulousness!
I loved Carrie so much and can’t wait to style her again!
What do you think of my “Carrie” and the whole midi skirt revolution?
Thanks for stopping by!
Yours twirling in a midi,
p.s. What’s a mother’s day breakfast (and a post mother’s day blog entry) without a few snaps of my mom and my family of mothers? All in black and white! We look so lovely, don’t you agree?
