Twenty Sixteen is on it’s way out and with it, many fashionable hits and misses. In reflecting over the last year, I wanted to compile a list (in no particular order) of the moments I felt were most fashionable. They caught my eye or were buzzworthy enough to be on my radar. There were so many moments to choose from, but I finally settled on these. Here we geaux:
Beyonce and her Lemonade moment
Love her or hate her (I’m a card-carrying member of the BeyHive), her creativity with style perfectly compliments her music. With Lemonade, she managed to give us a different sound and some hot fashion to go along with it. The formation hat has become iconic, the yellow ‘Hold Up’ dress was fab, and I think her CFDA award was very much deserved.
Mrs. Michelle Obama and every formal moment she slayed
FLOTUS really gave us the epitome of grace and elegance (as always) on her way out. Her formal looks were stunning from head to toe and had me in awe.
Jaden Smith & His Louis Vuitton moment
He shocked the fashion world as the face of the LV women’s spring line. Gender issues have been a hot topic, and this definitely had us clutching our pearls.
Solange and her ‘Seat at the Table’ moment
Not only did she give us some serious R&B heat with her smooth vocals and groovy sound, she also gave us some stunning visuals in her ‘Cranes in the Sky” video. I absolutely love her style in general, and this year, her eclectic, fashion forward style didn’t disappoint.
Hilary Clinton and her power suits
As if being the first female presidential candidate wasn’t enough, she brought back the power pants suit and managed to make them look pretty cool.
Olivia Palermo and her street style moments
Chic. Stylish. Life-giving. Add any other adjective you’d like. She slays! I couldn’t pick just one look. I’m here for all of this.
Rita Ora and her MET Gala moment
I really loved this dress. The Gala’s theme was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” and I love when the attendees go a little over the top. It is a costume party, right?
JLo and her Golden Globe moment
I’m all about some J. Lo, and I love when she gives us that subtle sexy. This color with the contrasting lip and that hint of leg…yassssss!!!
Rihanna and her moment with Puma
The Fenty collection cannot stay online, on shelves, in stock. Whatever. They are highly coveted and RiRi really has put Puma on the map again. My favorite (that I still can’t get my hands on) was the Fenty Trainer in Red.
Cam Newton and his pink and green post-game momentImage: Hollywood Life
He has been the talk of the world wide web every Sunday for his on field performance and his memorable emsembles during the post game press conferences. We can’t wait for Sundays to find out what he wore and look forward to Mondays to see what new memes have surfaced. He’s had many side-eye worthy looks, but this one…
According to Q, the new year is sure to be filled with more überchic styles that will make us swoon and inspire us fashionistas to werk our daily style choices like we’re on the runway!
Cheers to a fabulously fashionable 2017!
