The Pantone Color Institute (PCI) has spoken. The 2017 Color of the Year is Greenery. A fresh, crisp yellow-green that represents fresh beginnings. Regrowth. Nature. Laurie Pressman, VP of the PCI, was quoted saying, “There’s a growing desire to reconnect with nature and what is real and find ways to disconnect from technology. We need a break. We need to stop and breathe. Greenery is about unity and community – connecting to one’s self, others, and a higher purpose, Nature.”
I couldn’t agree more. Greenery is nature’s favorite color and we could all use some disconnecting from the things that aren’t important and reconnect with those things that truly matter. One question: How do one inject greenery into her style in real life? Glad you asked. I’m thinking most definitely with accessories, but there are also some beautifully hued skirts and dresses perfect for spring and summer. Also, jackets and coats would be a great way to add a little punch of greenery.
Dresses/Skirts – Whether solid or print, this is one way to display the color of the year as subtly or as boldly as you want. Pair with a complimentary color to make a statement or metallics for classic elegance.
Stunning Embellished Dress
Tops/Toppers – Green jewel tones are great when paired with neutrals. A printed jacket can add some tropical flare to a basic sundress or jumpsuit and a trench will be perfect on those spring/summer rainy days.
Accessories – If going bold doesn’t tickle your fancy, add little pops of green to your outfit for a tiny bit of interest and fun.
According to Q, the color of the year gives us a whole spectrum of possibilities to reconnect ourselves and our wardrobes with nature. Add a little greenery or a lot, but this color is sure to make a statement.
Cheers to colors that make us happy!
How will you wear greenery this year?
