Let me first give a disclaimer: I AM NOT a beauty blogger. I’ve had quite a few people ask me about my skin & makeup routines lately, so I thought I’d share my essentials. We’ve all heard the common healthy skin tips: never sleep in makeup, decrease stress & therefore wrinkles, use SPF, yada yada. I’m a pretty simple gal when it comes to make up (details cometh soon), but I DO NOT skimp on my skin care.
Here’s a glimpse of my must-haves…
Water
A wise beauty guru once said, “Good skin comes to those who hydrate.” I’ve learned over time that hydration is probably the #1 thing that produces beautiful skin. I don’t drink sodas. Very little juice. There’s an occasional hot tea or latte. Otherwise, I drink water all day!! Oh, and I love wine so water is definitely a must!! Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. Your skin will thank you.
Products
I INVEST in products for my face. Did you hear what I said? Invest! While everything that costs a pretty penny doesn’t always give the best results, with skincare, I truly believe you pay for the results you get. I choose to use Eminence Skin Care & Pacifica Natural Beauty products as they’re organic/vegan without the harsh chemicals. Eminence is a little pricey but has been worth every penny, and I absolutely love the results I’ve seen over the last 5 years. Pacifica is very affordable and I’ve been pleased with it as well. I’ll list the exact products I use below. When I can’t get to my favorite spas in Nashville to indulge and purchase, I usually order from my Eminence products online from Apothica/SkincareRx or Amazon. I can also pick up a few products locally from Spa Therapies. As for Pacifica, the local Ultas or Target have them in stock.
- Eminence products: Stone Crop Cleanser | Strawberry Rhubarb Serum | Pear Microderm Polisher
- Pacifica products: Kale Detox Cleanser | Glow Baby Walnut Scrub | Wake Up Beautiful Mask
Clairisonic
This little scrubbing/oscillating contraption is amazing!!! I swear by this for daily deep cleansing. I love that it’s timed, so I don’t rush the face washing part of the routine (you know we can hurry through stuff sometimes.) My face loves it and it is absolutely worth the $100-200 investment. Try it. You’ll see.
Organic Coconut Oil
I keep this stocked in my vanity. I use this as a makeup remover, under eye brightener, nightly moisturizer, cuticle oil, you naaaame it! There are so many benefits of coconut oil for the hair, skin, and nails!! Look it up. You won’t be disappointed. Added bonus, a little goes a long way and a jar lasts forever. Best part – it’s less than $10!
Regular Facials
Growing up, my mom told me, “If you take care of your body, it’ll take care of you.” I took that to heart, and I’m a firm believer in self care. For me, this includes quarterly spa appointments for facials and massages. I opt for the anti-aging and/or the ultra moisturizing facials because duh! I also give myself little mini facials weekly with masks, and I use scrubs at home at least twice a week.
So, that’s it. My little skincare regimen in a nutshell.
