Appliqué items are all over the place lately. It’s a trend but not because the technique has been around for ages. I had the pleasure of previewing The Young Collectors Art Show a few weeks ago and I thought this dress worn as a top (also trending) would be the perfect look. Red pants to pop. Blue suede shoes to coordinate but add a little extra interest and color. I know you tapped into your inner Elvis for a moment. It’s ok. Navy blue bag to tone it done. I wanted to pop but not. Talk about a style oxymoron. But I think it worked.
The Young Collectors art show was held at the historic Clayborn Temple and sponsored by Young Arts Patrons (YAP). YAP is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to invest in and showcase young artists to make a bigger impact in the community. The artists came from all over the US and the pieces were absolutely amazing. For more information on YAP, upcoming events, and how you can support, check out their website here.

According to Q, trends don’t always have to look “trendy”. Be creative and incorporate them in your own way. Staying true to yourself will make the trend stand out even more!
Cheers to trends we love and supporting the arts!
