As my maternity leave is nearing it’s end, I feel like I’m finally getting into the groove of life with a newborn. I’ll be adding work back to the mix in a couple of weeks after 3 months and talk about an adjustment!! But c’est la vie. There are so many facets that make up my life beyond fashion and style. For this reason, there will be just a few additions to the blog here and there to showcase them all. However, I will still strive to deliver great style and share how you can recreate the looks and/or make them your own without breaking the bank. I’ve got some great things planned for my blogging world in 2018, but before we get back on the train, here’s a little about me for the new followers (and a reminder for my ride or dies)…
ME :: I’m a 5’10” girl power enthusiast living and loving in Memphis, TN. I’m a Nurse Practitioner by day, striving to help people take better care of themselves. It’s my dream job and I absolutely love what I do. I try my best to practice what I preach in the way of lifestyle and eating choices, so you may see/hear little nuggets regarding health and fitness, specifically for women from time to time.
HOME :: By night, I’m a busy mom of two (a 15 year old Luvbug and 2 month old Ladybug/Karebear) + a furbaby, Kingston. I call myself a ‘RockMom’ and truly believe that your fab doesn’t not have to disappear when you have children. If we’re not in the gym for basketball games, we’re usually hanging out at home or somewhere around the city of Memphis. I’m new to the girl mom world, but I look forward to sharing some adventures and style with my mini. I’m also a firm believer in date nights and cultivating the romantic relationship. Having fun and being adventurous with the one you love is vitally important! I try my best to live an organized life and keep things running like a well-oiled machine. We get a little squeaky at times, but I’ll share a few of those mom/life hacks that help me keep things as balanced as possible.
STYLE :: My style has evolved so much over the last few years. Basically, I’m a 40 year old grown ass woman and I dress like it. I’m pretty conservative and a total girly girl, however, I can mix it up when I need to. I’m not what you’d call a trendy gal, but I will find a trend that works for me every now and then. I love good designer pieces, but I don’t believe everything with a label is worth the splurge (read: everything designer ain’t cute!) In 2018, I hope to elevate my looks and make them more interesting by adding layers and experimenting with textures and accessories. Here’s a little more about my style:
- I think you can be completely covered up and super sexy (except on date nights *wink*).
- Most of the time you’ll find me in jeans, a tee shirt, and a blazer or kimono. It’s become somewhat of a signature look.
- I love leopard in any form and you’ll see it often, so get ready!
- I’ve become a hat lover over the last few years.
- Statement jewelry is BAE, and I think the accessories make the outfit!
- Shoes are my weakness.
- I don’t believe sequins has to be reserved for night time or special occasions. We should sparkle and shine EVERY. SINGLE. DAY!

LIFE :: I try my best to live my best life and be my best self EVERYDAY! Choosing happy is a big part of who I am, and self-care and self-investment are extremely important. I believe in saying NO, and I love a good spa day to preserve my sexy! I treasure my close knit relationships and love my gal pals to the end. I truly believe a woman needs her girlfriends to stay sane, so you may often hear about the adventures of the ‘Talls and Smalls’. These are my closest friends and we indulge in GNOs, girl’s trips, and interesting events in Memphis and beyond. We’re currently planning a trip to Thailand and I CANNOT WAIT!! We love a good restaurant, pretty cocktails, girl chat, and of course the wine is endless!! I’m also a part of a book club with a great group of women, and I’ll be sharing some of our book choices here.
So there you have it. It’s time to werk 2018 with style and throw in a few new adventures and experiences along the way. I know I’m late to the new year party, but that’s what a newborn will do for you.
Life is for living, right? Well, let us stylishly live!!! Will you be tagging along with me?!
Cheers to making everyday our runway!
