Inspiration

In the fashion world, one can draw inspiration from the people, places, things, and ideas around them. My blogger boo Andrea (of By Andrea Fenise) does a series that I love called ‘Turn That Room into an Outfit’. She actually finds home decor that she loves and turns it into an outfit! I mean how cool is that! Go HERE to see what I’m talking about.  Last week, I was invited to the Dixon Gallery & Gardens to stroll the grounds and take in all of the gorgeous flowers that were blooming. Of course, I couldn’t walk amongst all of this beauty without a photo shoot.

I took a page out of Andrea’s book and thought, what if I turned the garden into an outfit. Yes!!! So, this look was inspired by a garden of tulips. French tulips. Some were still closed. A lot of them were blooming. They were all absolutely breathtaking. These beautiful flowers made me delve into the most colorful corner of my closet. The combination of the reds, pinks, yellows, and hybrids screamed color blocking. And so I obliged. This easy dress is bright and vibrant like the bold coral tulips and I thought I’d play with violet-pink shoes (because pinks and reds totally go together) to pick up the other abundant color in the garden. I threw in some metallic for a little sparkle and I have a look that is perfect for a spring/summer wedding, an art show, or maybe even date night.
