Fashion Night Out

Last week, the 7th Memphis Fashion Week (MFW) officially kicked off with Fashion Night Out, a mix and mingle kind of event where we got to meet designers, rub elbows with Memphis’ most stylish, sip and shop ’til our little hearts are content.  The buzz this year was all about Rachel Roy! She was a featured designer this year and would be selling during the trunk show.  I’ve been a fan of her line for quite some time, so excited was an understatement.  It was Thursday and I had to work, so a fly outfit that could go from 9-5 to 5-9 was a must.  I saw THIS PICTURE of Claire Sulmers of The Fashion Bomb Daily on Instagram, and thought it was the perfect look to recreate in my own way AND with what I already had in my closet.  I switched up the color palette a bit and went for a brighter, more statement pink wide-leg pant.  The trench would have to be a sleeveless version, which was perfect as it was a bit warm that day. I actually added the Gucci belt, but felt my interpretation looked better without it (and I wasn’t going to force it just to be a part of the #GucciGang.  Added a few more cool accessories (hat and bag), and I was ready to werk the office and beyond.   What do you think? Did I do Claire’s outfit justice?

According to Q, my Fashion Night Out look was a success! I used the Claire Sulmers inspiration as the foundation, but added my own flavor! When you find a look you like, I challenge you to peruse your closet and have fun recreating it by adding your signature spin & interpreting it in your own way. Besides, isn’t that what style is all about?!?

Cheers to the true definition of style, MFW, and making it werk!
