BEFORE
The final season of the hit show Game of Thrones ended last night. I’m sure there were watch parties galore and it’s the trending topic today on all social media channels. I’ll have to admit, I’ve only watched a few seasons and haven’t fully caught up on this season just yet. No spoiler alerts, please! So while y’all banter about the Iron Throne melting, who killed who, where the heck Arya is going, and Jon Snow with his fine self, I’m over here looking like the Night King! Ha! You heard me right! Don’t know who he is? It’s this dude. And for flawless skin, I don’t mind. My fave spa treated me to Game of Thrones facial and it felt amazing! Your spa could neva! No, really. The GOT facial is exclusively at Esthetiques and it’s quite an interesting experience.
So, here’s the scoop. The GOT facial is also known as DMK enzyme therapy. The goal is to remove dead proteins and toxins through reverse osmosis as well as promote freshly oxygenated blood to the skin. It encourages collagen and elastin formation, which is vital to keep skin plump and battles the fine lines. When I first heard about (and saw) the facial, I thought how weird. But then I thought how cool! We started with a deep cleanse and a gentle exfoliating cinnamon peel. Y’all, I can’t lie, my face was screaming ‘Lord, Jesus it’s a firre”! But it was a sweet kind of heat and that’s how you know it’s working. When Brandi started massaging it into my face, the tingle turned into an amazing sensation.
The cinnamon peel was followed by a powdered Vitamin C treatment, which was a first for me. As we age, Vitamin C is so important for our skin as it helps the skin retain collagen, giving it a more supple appearance as well as helps with fine lines & wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and inflammation. I’m telling you, Brandi has some of the best stuff for your skin!! She truly stays on top of things!!
Next, it was GOT mask time, my fave part. The enzyme mask is painted on with a brush and sits for 45 mins. As it started to harden, I could immediately feel (and see) it working. My skin was pulsating and tightening. When fully dry, the mask was so hard, I could barely move a muscle. Once removed, there was a noticeable plasmatic effect – a good thing that means newly oxygenated blood has entered the skin and capillaries. My skin felt firmer and smoother.
