Black History Month (the observance because we black 365). All black attire. Black chocolatier. Black wineries. Black female DJ. Held in a historic African American part of Memphis. Yes, ladies and gentleman. Blackity black black. The Black Tasting. The first of it’s kind. And as if that wasn’t enough to get you excited, add a silent party to the mix and make every one of your senses dance.
I’ve been a fan of Phillip Ashley Chocolates for quite a few years. He actually converted (& dare I say, upgraded) me from my occasional snickers lifestyle with his interesting ingredients and eye catching morsels of magnificence. I’ve been to his tastings before, even had a private one for my bday about 5 or 6 years ago, but never have I attended a silent one.

Well, let me tell you, this was probably the best tasting I’ve attended HANDS DOWN! The silent disco concept added a completely different element. Now go with me through the whole process and maybe you’ll understand. He truly stimulated all senses and it was amazing. First, you have the visuals. All of the beautiful people dressed in all black err’thang is always a sight to see. There’s something super sexy about an all black outfit. Deets on mine later. The chocolates looked like gemstones. Jewels. Almost too gorgeous to eat. Almost. I ate every one and then some.

Of course, our palette is teased in every way as the chocolate and wine pairings cause our taste buds to dance. And speaking of dance, DJ Alpha Whiskey gave us an earful of goodness with a curated playlists that expertly expressed each chocolate’s personality. Auditory overload in the most amazing way possible.
It’s no secret that I love wine and if you’ve been to a wine tasting or two like I have then you know that you have to hover your nose over the glass to get a sniff. These wineries did not disappoint. We had a Rosè, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, & Pinot Noir. All super fragrant and super delicious.

Listen, this event was outstandingly unique and I can’t wait for the next one! Next one? Yep! He’s coming back with Cacao en Blanc this summer. A Silent chocolate tasting, but this time, the all white version. I. CANNOT. WAIT! It’s perfect for a date night dessert following dinner kind of outing. Or as a part of a good GNO. Either way, you don’t want to miss it. Tickets are on sale now (HERE). Check out the video recap and feel all the vibes. I’m telling you, you don’t want to miss it!
